Monteverro 2016, James Suckling

This is another incredible edition of this wine. The fruit pops straight out with pure blackberries, blackcurrants and blueberries. Then, if that wasn’t enough, the nose reveals dark herbs, citrus, iodine, crushed stones and pressed violets. The quality of the tannins blows you away, as they take you on a journey through layers of dark fruit, supported by cutting acidity and savory undertones. Very long on the refined yet chewy finish.

Monteverro 2010, Wine Advocate by Robert Parker

The flagship estate wine, 2010 Monteverro, is absolutely stunning. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Vineyards are located on a soft incline at the foot of Capalbio facing the glimmering Tyrrhenian Sea. The enormity of this wine cannot be exaggerated: Dark fruit, chocolate and spice make for a rich and opulent first impression. The excellence of the 2010 vintage is on full display thanks to the integrity of the fruit, the supple richness of the mouthfeel and the tangy sweetness of the finish. Monteverro is a relatively new estate that shows enormous promise. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

Monteverro Chardonnay 2016, James Suckling

Lovely floral and herbal intensity to this white, including lemon grass, lemon meringue, dried thyme, honeysuckle, apricots and jasmine. Very oily and phenolic, but the full-bodied palate really takes off with subtle citrus character, thanks to the steely acidity on offer.

Tinata 2015, Falstaff

Tinata 2015, Wine Advocate by Robert Parker

The 2015 Tinata represents a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache with fruit grown in the southern part of Coastal Tuscany near the beachside resort town of Capalbio. This Rhône-inspired Tuscan blend is aged (70%) in barrique for 16 months and the rest goes into egg-shaped cement tanks. This lovely wine offers rich texture and depth with medium to full-bodied layers of dark fruit. Black currant and summer cherry are followed by smoke, spice and chocolate. This warm vintage shows extra concentration and richness.

Terra di Monteverro 2015, Wine Advocate by Robert Parker

The 2015 Terra di Monteverro is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, all aged in barrique (with 60% new oak) for 20 months. Each parcel is fermented separately in stainless steel before the blend is produced. Offering a slightly more direct and approachable style, this wine delivers the extra richness and density that you can expect of this beautifully warm and luminous vintage. The fruit is dark and rich with black currant and dried plum, backed by exotic spice and toast.

Monteverro 2015, Wine Advocate by Robert Parker

The 2015 Monteverro comes out with gangbuster intensity and richness, keeping the wine very much in line with our expectations of this profound and exuberant vintage. I tasted bottle number 3,505 of 17,821 made. The estate’s flagship wine is composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot all aged in oak (with 80% new barrique) for two years. This wine is lavishly layered with dark fruit, dried cherry, tar, smoke and exotic spice. Those aromas just jump right out at you, never letting up in intensity or complexity.
