A pure and attractive red with currants, raspberries and minerals. Full body, with silky tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Second wine of Monteverro. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. Try in 2016. But very pretty now.

The 2010 Terra di Monteverro shows lovely softness and a compact, clean quality of fruit. The blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc with equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot all aged 20 months in oak. The wine shows excellent integration and harmony with thick richness on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
Tasted from a 100-milliliter test tube, the Monteverro 2010 Terra di Monteverro brings us back in time, and it is the most intriguing sample in this mini vertical of three selected vintages. The wine is mature, no surprise, with hints of licorice and dried rosemary that add unique complexity and depth. The primary fruit, with all its inky and impenetrable darkness, is still there. With this wine Monteverro stands out among Tuscan white wines. Still closed and restrained but with a very promising appearance. Fine spicy aroma, complex and well balanced.

The 2010 Chardonnay is fermented in egg-shaped concrete tanks and 30% of the wine sees new French oak. There’s a toasted note of baked bread or almond that sets off the complex bouquet. Aromas later open to peach, apricot, exotic fruit, honeysuckle, vanilla and spice. This is a sophisticated and impeccable wine with the pedigree of an important, oak-aged Chardonnay from the New World. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
